Coconut Water – If you put a glass of coconut water next to a glass of coconut milk, you can see the difference immediately: the water is cloudy and much thinner than white milk. The taste is different too. While the water tastes only slightly sour-sweet, the creamy dairy has the typical intensive coconut aroma. Coconut water is the liquid found in unripe, green coconuts. Each fruit contains about 600 millilitres. On the other hand, coconut milk is pressed from the flesh of ripe coconuts.

Pure coconut water without additives is an entirely natural product. It is similar to mineral water, which is also an original food. Coconut water is low in calories, making it a good, thirst-quenching alternative to juices and sodas. But the best thing is the minerals in coconut water: it mainly contains potassium, magnesium, calcium and sodium.

Calcium is not only virtuous for solid bones but also supports muscles. The same goes for sodium and magnesium. Sodium and potassium are also crucial for keeping the body hydrated. The mineral mix in coconut water is ideal after sweaty sports sessions where the muscles have been strained. Coconut water is a natural sports drink that Mother Nature has already mixed for us.

Coconut water is not only a healthy alternative to many other hangover recipes, not just after exercise but also after a night out where people drank alcohol and danced a lot. The liquid perfectly balances the electrolyte and water balance the next day. Since the water is easily digestible, it can also remain tolerated by a stomach that is still very sensitive after partying.


Another advantage that coconut water brings is that it contains antioxidants that render free radicals harmless and can thus protect the skin from premature ageing. There is even evidence that it lowers blood cholesterol levels. Cholesterol can block blood vessels and lead to severe illnesses, making sense to keep levels low.

Many of the good properties of it – natural, rich in minerals, ideal after sport – correspond to those of mineral water. So if you can’t find the exotic drink in the supermarket or are not convinced by the taste, you don’t have to do without these advantages. Moreover, with a bottle of mineral water, you do your body at least as much a favour in everyday life, after sweaty activities or after a night of partying as with it.

Coconut Water: Only Benefits?

It is the perfect complement to sparkling water and unsweetened herbal and fruit teas to add interest to daily fluid intake. In addition to the good ingredients, another advantage of amniotic fluid is that it can remain mixed well. As an addition to smoothies, mixed with juice and water to make a spritzer, or as the basis of a cocktail – it is always a good choice.

So there is a lot to remain said for it. So is the answer to the problem of how often you should drink it “every day”? Not necessarily. A glass a day is undoubtedly good for the body, but unfortunately, it is not a miracle cure. For example, when it’s not being drunk as a direct replacement for industrial sugar-sweetened beverages like cola and soda, it doesn’t help with weight loss. The assumption that it supports the body in detoxification is not sufficiently proven.

What speaks against even drinking it every day is its ecological footprint. After all, the product has to travel a long way before it is in a German supermarket. If you are looking for a drink that contains many minerals every day, it is better to use mineral water. With just a few simple steps, you can easily make lemon water or other infused water. In this way, you enrich your water with taste and ingredients that can easily compete with it.
